There’s a light
As I walk slowly down hallways
you show it to me
As I float above earth
you pull it away
to draw me back into the fray
I see it again
when I’m back on my feet
I feel it again
when the voice in a song reverberates
throughout every cell in my body
When I’m touched by the living, the embodied
There is a light
that knows nothing of duality
it is a spectrum, it is complete
It’s in the mud on my shoes
and the laughter in the air
It’s in the sweet taste of tears
It’s always here
when I am here
Always touching the things I touch
when I am living this lifetime
when I build with my hands
when I embrace my departure from stardust
when I am aging, when the rust appears
It’s always here
When I am walking dead
I’m just unaware
When I am in my skin
It paints the walls
It will be my memory
When I return to the sky
And I will wonder why
I didn’t play in it more
When I had the chance
I didn’t dance in its warmth
When I had more form
There’s a light.
